8428-12 is a 12-inch EPDM rubber cold shrink connector insulator from 3M's 8420 Series designed for primary insulation of solid dielectric insulated wires and cable splices rated up to 1000 volts.

This cold shrink insulator features simple, tool-free installation by removing the core after positioning over inline connectors or cable splices, forming a secure, water-resistant seal. It accommodates a wide range of cable sizes with a minimum cable diameter of 0.95 inches and maximum insulator diameter of 1.94 inches. The EPDM rubber material provides excellent thermal stability and prolonged resiliency, suitable for indoor and outdoor applications with operating temperatures from -40°F to 194°F (-40°C to 90°C). It is flame-retardant and ideal for insulating secondary splices, direct-buried or submersible repairs, and physical protection of connectors or lugs.
