The SM-5 Refill Unit utilizes silver or pretensioned nickel-chrome current-responsive elements drawn through precision dies to very accurate diameters, with solderless construction brazed into terminals. These fuse units deliver fast, positive fault interruption through high-speed arc elongation in the solid-material-lined bore and efficient deionizing action of gases generated through thermal reaction. The melting time-current characteristics are precise with only 10 percent total tolerance in melting current.
