The SM-5 Refill Unit utilizes silver or pretensioned nickel-chrome fusible elements drawn through precision dies to very accurate diameters, with solderless construction brazed into terminals. Fast, positive fault interruption is achieved through high-speed elongation of the arc in the solid-material-lined bore and efficient deionizing action of gases generated through thermal reaction of the solid material due to the heat of the confined arc.
