134150R4 is an S&C Electric SM-5 power fuse refill unit designed for medium voltage distribution and substation applications. This high-voltage fuse delivers fast, positive fault interruption through high-speed arc elongation in a solid-material-lined bore and efficient deionizing action of gases generated by thermal reaction. The refill unit features a silver or pretensioned nickel-chrome current-responsive fusible element drawn through precision dies to very accurate diameters, with solderless construction brazed into terminals. Melting time-current characteristics maintain precise tolerance of only 10 percent total in melting current, compared to 20 percent tolerance of many competitive fuses. The nondamageable design ensures operating economies with no need to replace unblown companion fuses following a fuse operation. Age, vibration, and surges that heat the element nearly to the severing point will not affect performance characteristics.
